Hello, and welcome to the Natural History Conference!

This here is NHC's little stretch of off-island fun, meant for the NHC conferees, and those who would like to learn more about NHC. The Natural History Conference takes place on Star Island, 10 miles off the coast of New Hampshire, June 21 - 28.
There's lots to see and do; the schedule of activities includes:

Writing workshop
Talent Show
Botany Walk
Working with pewter
Photography
And much, much more... or less. At NHC, you're free to do whatever it is you wish, up to and including kicking back on a rocking chair and enjoying a book.

However, that being said, don't forget this year's daily talk: "The Natural History of Earth, Human Impacts, and Our Current Choice: Life or Death", about global warming, presented by Dr. Chad Tolman.

What is NHC?

NHC -- the Natural History Conference -- is an annual, week-long event on Star Island. Every year has its own theme, and daily talks lead by an authority on the subject. Past years have included talks on myriad topics, including anthropology, biology, and astronomy. The talks themselves are usually about an hour, which leaves the rest of the day open for other activities as you see fit. A quick glimpse at our activities schedule shows the broad range of things that you can enjoy. If, however, you wish to just enjoy the island, you're more than welcome to do that, too -- the only mandatory item is the island orientation.

The week's events are run by the conference chair(s). This year's chairs are Terri Behm and Ken D'Ambrosio. The registrar this year is Kim Reef. Additional details about rates, policies, and general island information can be obtained from the "Blue Book", supplied by the island staff.
